Wouldn't exactly call this a cover, as Portugal. The Man. use "Weekend Wars" as a base point for jumping off into a jam session full of rumbling drums and searing solos at one of their recent tour stops. Although John Gourley's soulful falsetto could pass for Andrew VanWyngarden any day, no real surprise PTM takes the song in their own direction anyways. American Ghetto is out now so spend some time with it, cause reports are that the band is already writing for their next record. If I were them, I'd want a vacation by now...but as a listener? I'm not complaining.
